The number of suspected cases treated is estimated at 75.Many cases are treated emperically and many mild cases are not treated at all. The main serious complication is a severe pneumonia. If at anytime your child has trouble breathing ,take him to your doctor or nearest open medical facility WEEK ENDING 9/11/2009 LOCALLY Again it has been a busy week with the flu but there has been some change in the characteristics as we have treated more adults. We Treated approximately 75 cases again this week but 1 in 5 were adults which actuallly is a decrease in Pediatric patients. We do not think this is a decrease in the infections but, based on phone calls to our office, this reflects more mild cases that are being treated at home with supportive care. The distribution is now about equal in all the local schools. |
